HotJava Apps Contest to Award $1 Mill. in Prizes

The Java Cup International is a new contest in which users design the "killer app" for Sun's new Web browser application, HotJava. HotJava allows one to develop "applets" that download from an Internet server and run on a user's client computer. Thus, one creates interactive applications that appear to run "over" the Internet; however, the actual program runs on the local computer. This eliminates performance as well as cross- platform compatibility problems. Over $1 million worth of prizes will be awarded by the contest. Full details on the Java Cup International can be found on Sun's Home Page http://javacontest.sun.com. Information about training for HotJava is also available.
