Turn Any Server Into A CD Server by SW

CD-QuickShare is one of the first software-only CD-ROM server solutions that gives networked and remote Windows users fast, simultaneous access to shared CDs.

Using just a single CD-ROM drive, the program builds a library of compressed CD-ROM images on a hard disk , turning any file server into a CD-ROM server multiple people can use simultaneously. It offers better-speed access for a fraction of the price of networked hardware alternatives such as CD towers and jukeboxes.

CD-QuickShare shares CD-ROMs with virtually no performance degradation, according to the firm. With the firm's ReachOut product remote Windows users can access CDs as well.

The program features myriad functions for LAN managers such as CD-ROM metering that tracks and enforces license counts.

The product is completely network transparent and, since no server-based software is executed, ensures compatibility with all network file servers including Novell NetWare, Windows NT, Banyan Vines and OS/2 LAN Server.

CD-QuickShare is designed for environments with large databases or image management requirements like health care and education. Stac Electronics, San Diego, CA, (800) 522-7822, www.stac.com.
