Program Extends Curricula to Homes

The first installment of Computer Curriculum Corp.'s (CCC) community-wide learning initiative, HomeReach extends the firm's SuccessMaker courseware to homes via high-speed modem, ISDN and cable modem.

Under this program, student files for CCC courses are transferred to/from home and school computers, allowing for continuous learning. The HomeReach package includes reading, math, early learning and reference software for grades K-8. Schools may also purchase optional adult or bilingual courses.

Parents can directly observe their children's academic progress, or pursue their own learning goals by taking such courses as literacy skills, GED preparation and ESL. CCC offers extensive training for participating schools and parents.

HomeReach has been beta tested at sites in Las Cruces, N.M., and Flint, Mich. It sells by subscription in conjunction with SuccessMaker.
