League Guides Educators to Teaching and Learning on the Web

In an effort to smooth the path to education on the Web, the League for Innovation has released its latest monograph, Faculty Guide for Moving Teaching and Learning to the Web. In this publication, Judith Boettcher from the Corporation for Educational Research and Networking, along with Rita-Marie Conrad of Florida State University, provide faculty and administrators with a set of practical guidelines for implementing Web-based learning in post-secondary institutions. Sections on Web technology, learning theory, and instructional design add historical and pedagogical elements, and stories told by faculty who have taught Web-based courses offer first-hand insights into online learning.

The book delves into the history of the Internet and the development of the Web over time. It then talks about the changes that accompany the adoption of new technologies, as well as background into teaching and learning on the Web. The bulk of the book focuses on the planning and development of Web courses. Copies are available from the League office or online at www.league.org for $20 each. League for Innovation, Mission Viejo, CA, (949) 367-2884, www.league.org.
