Prente Romich Company

Prente Romich Company has developed Pathfinder, a communication device for people with a wide range of communication disorders. It uses a high-resolution active matrix color display that utilizes touch-screen technology. There is also a static keyboard with 32, 64 or 128 locations and enhanced infrared head-pointing access. The synthesized speech provides a range of age- and gender-appropriate voice options, as well as a digitized speech option for adding songs, sounds and additional languages.

Weighing less than 5 lbs., Pathfinder is designed to be handled by children and by persons with physical disabilities. It is built to withstand the rigors of constant use, and has six user areas that operate independently to accommodate a wide range of access options and vocabularies. Unity language software based on the Minspeak language system comes pre-loaded on the device. Prentke Romich Co., Wooster, OH, (800) 262-1984, www.prentrom.com.
