Practical Tips for Using Web-based Assessment Systems

Lucent’s ORiNOCO Home/SOHO solution is a set of products that enables educators to connectto wireless networks or the Internet at very high speeds from their homes orfrom a school setting. The solution is comprised of Residential Gateways(RG-1000) that act as base stations, and ORiNOCO World PC Cards that slide intonotebook computers and other portable computing devices. The Home/SOHO systemcan wirelessly connect up to 10 notebooks and desktop computers locatedthroughout a building, whether they are indoors or outdoors. In addition, thesystem offers ISA and PCI bus adapters for desktop computers and wirelessinfrastructure products.

The ORiNOCO World PC Card is IEEE802.11b compliant and Wi-Ficertified. This means it will work with other IEEE802.11b compliant wirelessnetworking systems from hardware manufacturers including Apple, IBM,Hewlett-Packard, Sony and many others.
