This interactive game show makes reviewing literature fun and exciting. The software can be used with Mac or Windows. Each disk is theme-based and includes 10 books. There are 16 different themes for grades 3 to 5, 26 for grades 6 to 8, and three for grades 8 to 10. You can purchase each disk separately and build your library, or you can purchase them all at one time.
I had the pleasure of using the Mystery and Adventure theme with my class. First I previewed the game with the students to get them motivated about the book. We then read The Whipping Boy aloud in class. The students were very attentive and asked more questions than usual about the book. After we were finished reading the book, I separated the class into three teams and we played the game. After each question was presented, the Random Picker selected which group would answer the question. The animation of the game show host kept the students on the edge of their seats.
Before the game begins, the teacher is able to pick from a multiple-choice game or a Use It or Lose It game. Both games require the students to use higher order thinking skills, and the skills are outlined on the disk that comes with each theme. The teacher can choose from individual or small group play, whole group play, or classroom mode. You can also choose to put the game on the network and have one student database for all of your students.
The software comes with an extensive book that describes every aspect of the program. The teacher is able to control all aspects of the game including: length, questions asked, type of game, and how the game is played.
