Virtual School Offers Complete Online Education

The Sagemont School, a private school in South Florida, has created a distance learning educational environment called The Sagemont Virtual School. The virtual school is aimed at educating students who are looking for options outside the realm of traditional high schools. Offering Internet-based courses taught by Sagemont teachers, the virtual school offers an array of services for students and their families, including college counseling, career internships, virtual and real field trips and virtual clubs. Basically, students will have all of the activities a traditional high school has to offer, but will be able to formulate their own mix of online classes and activities to suit their individual needs.

There are four different options from which a student and his or her parents may choose with the virtual school: Click and Mortar, Click and Learn, Click and Go and Click and Commute. The Click and Mortar option is for Sagemont students who wish to take a few of their courses online while attending the Sagemont Upper School. Students may complete up to two credits online annually. The Click and Learn option is designed for students who plan to take their entire curriculum online. These students have a two-week residency requirement each year, where they must spend time on campus participating in science labs, community service projects, extracurricular activities and testing. The Click and Go option is designated for students who travel extensively throughout the school year. These students will attend Sagemont Virtual School when living globally and attend Sagemont Upper School when residing in Florida. The Click and Commute Option is for students living within commuting distance of the Sagemont Upper School who would like to take their core curriculum online and elective courses on campus.
