Help Desk Program Certifies Student Technologists

Schools with limited resources, but in need of technology services, can tap into the talents of students to provide help desk services through Potential Energy's Pre-Professional Certification (PPT) program. PPT Certification is designed to provide students with a foundation of knowledge about technology that makes them technologically literate, and subsequently allows for peer-to-peer conversations between them and their school-based coordinator.

With PPT Certification, students can explore their interests and aptitudes before pursuing a higher level certification. Students enrolled in the program will be trained in five areas: hardware/basics, software, the Internet, networking and professionalism. Potential Energy also helps schools establish a framework by which support, accountability and customer service are in place before implementation, and consistently maintained. The company also provides its Service Call Tracker software, which is specifically designed for student-run help desks. Potential Energy, Lexington, KY, (859) 492-8111, www.potentialenergy.net.
