Teacher Tool Aids in Language, Reading

LearnerLink from HOSTS Learning is an Internet-based tool that gives teachers an easy method for improving students' reading skills. The tool enables teachers to give online or off-line assessments, use the data to create individualized or small group lesson plans, and cross-reference those lesson plans with existing reading textbooks or supplemental materials available in the classroom.

Based on student assessment results, LearnerLink (www.learnerlink.com) gains access to HOSTS' database to cross reference more than 16,000 learning materials to create highly tailored individual or group lessons. By matching the HOSTS database with available classroom materials, LearnerLink gives teachers an automated way to maximize the use of all their classroom textbooks and supplementary materials, as well as effectively match each resource with the skill set it reinforces. Because the tool is Internet-based, the publisher and content information from HOSTS are continually updated and expanded. Additional teacher-developed materials can easily be added to the tool and linked to educational standards. HOSTS Learning, Vancouver, WA, (800) 833-4678, www.hosts.com.
