XanEdu Site Serves as Companion to Historic Slave Novel
XanEdu has 
created an educational companion Web site for The Bondwoman's Narrative at www.bondwomansnarrative.com. Designed to complement this historically significant novel written by a female fugitive slave, the companion features other works and images of the antebellum period, as well as essays by scholars, historians and original multimedia material.
By providing a range of print and online resources that support and build on the novel, XanEdu's educational companion allows professors to create a richer curriculum around this landmark literary piece. As the oldest known work of fiction by a female fugitive slave, this novel is expected to serve as a cornerstone of research and discussion for students and historians worldwide. The novel was edited by renowned Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., who is also director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for Afro-American Research.
Some of the new scholarly essays featured in the companion include original works by Gates, William L. Andrews, Jean Fagin Yellin, Ann Fabian and Hollis Robbins.
