Substance Abuse Prevention Training Available Online
Project 
ALERT Training Online is an interactive Web-based training program that will be available for middle grade substance abuse prevention teachers this fall. Teachers who participated in the traditional Project Alert workshops will be able to use the online program for free. The new training format, which is intended for individual use, lets teachers train at their own pace by presenting them with a gamelike simulation in which they teach a virtual class. They learn how to implement a variety of instructional techniques in ways that foster outcomes, such as high student engagement, trust and resistance self-efficacy.
Teachers receive frequent and tailored feedback as they progress through the program. Teachers can also download lesson plans, fact sheets, student handouts and other classroom materials at the end of each lesson module. The 14-lesson curriculum combines participatory activities, videos and professional development for educators to help students develop, practice and master resistance skills.
