Library of Congress Launches Website

THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS has launched a Web site (www.loc.gov/section108) to cover the work of a special independent committee that is recommending changes to section 108 of the Copyright Act. The committee’s recom-mendations, which are due by mid-2006, will address the relevant issues and concerns of libraries and archives, as well as those of creators and other copyright holders, when dealing with digital media. The “Section 108 Study Group” Web site is loaded with infor-mation such as the group’s mission statement, a member list, a schedule of meetings, as well as links to relevant sections of the Copyright Act and pertinent background papers.
