  • PowerMediaPlus.com Chosen as Media-on-Demand Solution for Nebraska Schools

    CLEARVUE & SVE and the Cooperative Organization of Nebraska Educational Service Units (CONESU) have reached an agreement to provide the PowerMediaPlus.com media-on-demand solution to 300 school districts and 1,300 campuses in Nebraska. Covering the entire state, the partnership opens access to the rich media and curriculum integration tools of the site to 325,000 students and 25,000 educators in preK-12 public, charter, and private schools. The state's educators and students now have access to the system's extensive content across all media types, videos, core concept clips, audio files, images, and print resources. The custom delivery configuration combines both Internet-delivered media and locally hosted content to best accommodate users' varied technology and bandwidth availability. Nebraska-owned media will be uploaded to the system for seamless integration within the site, enabling statewide search and delivery to the classroom. Users will also have access to the system at both school and home.

  • AMD Creates Cost-Effective DNS Bundle for Educators

    Advanced Media Design (AMD), developer of the award-winning AV-over-IP collaboration technology MediaPOINTE, has announced a special bundle of its acclaimed MPEG-2 Digital Network Streamer (DNS) products targeted specifically for educational institutions.   • Newton County Launches Pearson Centerpoint Student Information System

    Newton County School System, a racially diverse district located 33 miles southeast of Atlanta, has selected Pearson Centerpoint as its real-time, Web-based student information and performance management system to serve its more than 17,000 students. Combining all aspects of a student information system, including attendance, grading, and scheduling, with key functions such as skills reporting, standards tracking, and an assessment engine, Centerpoint optimizes school and student management in the district's 19 schools. It allows administrators, teachers, parents, and students to work together toward maximum student performance.

  • Qwest Increases Internet Capacity to Ohio Schools

    Qwest Communications International Inc. has signed a contract with the Management Council of the Ohio Education Computing Network (MCOECN) making Quest the designated statewide Internet provider to the Ohio K-12 network using Qwest iQ Networking. MCOECN represents the collective interest of the 23 IT centers serving 725 of Ohio's school districts. Qwest iQ Networking, a unique and high-value approach to delivering wide area network (WAN) services that help customers simplify their networks, will provide Ohio schools with increased bandwidth, allowing the schools to use the same technology to communicate and share data. All 23 of Ohio's IT centers and seven large urban districts will soon be connected by a fiber network that will greatly increase the speed of their voice, data, and video transmissions.

  • Vernier Giving Away Free Go! Temp Probes to U.S. Schools

Temp USB temperature probe and accompanying Logger Lite data-collection software in elementary, middle, and high schools across the United States. “Internet Literacy – Making the Most of the Web,” is a new online course for educators interested in using the World Wide Web in teaching and learning.
