##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

11.15.2006—Gateway Inc., Irvine, Calif., announced that it has signed a deal with United Independent School District in Texas. Gateway will supply more than 1,000 M280 Convertible Notebooks to the district, as well as various services.

Gateway's M280 is a notebook that can convert into a tablet-style PC by swiveling and folding the display, allowing students to take notes and draw diagrams in a classroom environment using a tablet pen. These notebooks will be distributed to middle school students in UISD to be used in conjunction with daily classroom activities and online testing.

In addition, the three-year contract between Gateway and UISD calls for the computer maker to provide training, support and other services.

District-wide, UISD enrolls some 37,000 K-12 and preschool students.
