11.27.2006—McDougal Littell has announced a distribution partnership with New Dimension Media to deliver video on demand to support McDougal's social studies and science textbooks. The program will kick off Dec. 1 in Washington, D.C., when the company unveils its new American History program designed for middle school students at the National Council for the Social Studies conference. McDougal Littell is a division of Houghton Mifflin Co. New Dimension Media is a producer of K–12 core curriculum video content for schools and public libraries.

The technology, called "CCC! Video on Demand," gives teachers "instant access to thousands of video programs" from producers of educational content. With the new partnership, McDougal Littell and New Dimension are producing video programs designed to support new McDougal Littell social studies and science textbooks. The clips, which will support every lesson in the new textbooks, are accessed through McDougal's Power Presentations software and through DVDs.

"Teachers need a variety of ways to engage today’s students. New Dimension Media's CCC! Video on Demand enhances McDougal Littell programs with exceptional instructional content and a flexible technology platform to meet the needs of today's teachers," said David Pieklo, McDougal's corporate vice president and director of marketing, in a prepared statement. "Through this innovative partnership, educators will have the most effective presentation tools on the market."
