KC Distance Learning Acquires Aventa

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

01.30.2007—Portland, OR-based KC Distance Learning (KCDL), a provider of online educational services, has acquired the assets of Aventa Learning, a content and service provider for K-12. The company's K-12 offerings will continue to be marketed under the Aventa brand.

KCDL is a distance learning provider whose courses are available directly through Keystone National High School, an online high school. Through the acquisition of Aventa, KC's solutions for the K-12 sector will be expanded to include everything "from institutional licenses of core, elective, AP and foreign language courses, to online and correspondence credit-recovery courses, to integrated district level partnerships," according to the company. Aventa, which launched in 2002, provides online high school courses, including foreign language and Advanced Placement courses, as well as credit completion courses, middle school courses, and AP Exam Review resources.

Citing a United States Department of Education statistic, which says that 25 percent of K-12 public schools offer e-learning, Steve Brown, CEO of KC Distance Learning, said, "Whether augmenting a school's current curriculum offering or addressing the needs of non-traditional students, schools are increasingly turning to online learning. By joining together Aventa Learning's expertise in the school market with KC Distance Learning's 30 years of experience in distance education, we become the best partner for schools interested in online education for their students."

The company says that in the 2005/2006 school year, more than 23,000 students took courses from KCDL. More information can be found at the link below.
