NEC Ships 3,000-Lumen Ultraportable Projector

2/12/2007—NEC has begun shipping a new model in its MP-series DLP projector line. The latest addition to the series, the NP60, is an ultraportable model weighing in at 3.5 pounds and producing 3,000 ANSI lumens of brightness.

NEC said the the NP60, which joins the NP40 and NP50 in NEC's DLP-based ultraportable lineup, is the brightest digital projector on the market at this size, measuring about the width and depth of a mouse pad (9.7" W x 7.1" D x 2.9" H). It offers a brightness of 3,000 ANSI lumens, a contrast ratio of 1,600:1, and a native resolution of 1,024 x 768 (XGA).

Other features include:

  • Auto focus;
  • Auto vertical keystone correction;
  • Auto source selection;
  • 64-step image magnification with location control;
  • 3,000-hour lamp life in economy mode;
  • Quick shut down (providing the ability to shut the projector down from a light switch or power strip switch); and
  • AutoSense technology (for synchronization with computer signals).

For connectivity, the NP60 includes one RCA (composite video) port, an S-video port and a 15-pin connector for computers. It also includes an RS232 port and IR sensor for remote operation.

The NEC NP60 ships with a carrying case, remote control, batteries, power cord, RGB signal cable, lens cap, user's manual on CD-ROM, and quick start guide. It's available now for $1,299.
