SETDA Elects Board, Launches 2007 Toolkit

The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) has announced the results of its board elections. The Arlington, VA-based organization has also released its 2007 Toolkit focusing on media literacy.

Officers and members of the board include the following:

  • Rick Gaisford (Utah), Chair;
  • Anita Givens (Texas), Vice-Chair;
  • Jayne Moore (Maryland), Secretary;
  • Wayne Hartschuh (Delaware), Treasurer;
  • Jeff Mao (Maine);
  • John O'Connell (Iowa);
  • Carla Wade (Oregon); and
  • Geoff Fletcher, (Emeritus).

SETDA has also released its 2007 toolkit comprising two components: media literacy and an advocacy packet focusing on education technology's role in global competitiveness.

The media literacy component, titled "The Changing Media Landscape: Promoting a Systemic Approach to ICT & Media Fluency," is a packet of materials "that promote a systemic approach for information and media literacy within our schools," according to SETDA. The advocacy component, titled "Education’s Role in Competitiveness: Technology is the Catalyst for Modernizing Teaching & Learning," includes various resources and approaches for funding and advocacy programs focused on "systemic change in teaching and learning and professional development."
