Apple Upgrades iMac Line

Apple CEO Steve Jobs yesterday introduced the company's new lineup of all in one iMac systems, replacing the previous lineup. The new models come in two form factors: one with a 20-inch screen, one with a 24-inch screen. Both now sport aluminum enclosures like the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro systems. The new systems are based around Intel's latest Core 2 Duo processors running at clock speeds up to 2.8 GHz....

Survey: Midwest Administrators Not Extremely Confident in Security

In a survey conducted last month, administrators in midwest schools indicated that they were not confident that their security measures were adequate to thwart threats to their campus. The survey, conducted by security technology provider Wren, polled principals and superintendents from middle and high schools in 12 midwest states, and showed that only 15 percent of respondents were "extremely confident" in their security measures....

Public Narrowly Supports NCLB Reauthorization

According to a new survey released this week, a not-so-overwhelming majority of Americans favor reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act with little or no modification. The study, "What Americans Think about Their Schools: The 2007 Education Next-PEPG Survey," conducted by the Hoover Institution’s Education Next organization and Harvard's Program on Education Policy and Governance, found that 57 percent favored the reauthorization....

HP has announced the recipients of its 2007 Technology for Teaching Leadership awards. Fifteen K-12 schools received awards totaling $1.2 million in equipment and professional development....
