Lego Robotics System Updated for Intel Macs, Vista

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

The Lego Group and education technology developer National Instruments have released an update to the Lego Mindstorms NXT robotics invention system. The new 1.1 release adds support for Intel-based Mac systems and Windows Vista.

Lego Mindstorms NXT is based around National Instruments' LabView graphical programming environment and remains compatible with the NI LabView Toolkit for Lego Mindstorms NXT. The toolkit allows users to create and download enhancements for the operation and control of the robotics platform.

Aside from the new system compatibility, the new version also adds improved memory usage and provides smaller compiled programs and compressed sound files. "These improvements provide users with increased system performance, especially when creating more complex programs," according to NI.

The upgrade runs $19.95 and is available through Lego Shop at Home. Further information, including information for using Mindstorms NTX in classrooms, can be found at the link below.
