AEC Releases Science Content, Expands Courseware

American Education Corp. (AEC) has released several new science curricula for both K-8 and high school. At the FETC 2008 conference in Florida last week, the company was also on hand to show off a new suite of content for its A+ VIP Bundle e-learning instruction courseware program.
The A+ VIP Bundle is a content and services plan for schools using AEC's A+nyWhere Learning System. It includes an annual plan that automatically updates schools' A+LS courseware and also offers enhanced content, including access to the Britannica Online School Edition from Encyclopaedia Britannica; access to Merriam-Webster's student dictionary and thesaurus; professional development via A+ University; automatic updates to national and state standard sets; and regular content upgrades.
At the FETC show, the company showed off new content for this system. Dubbed "Cambridge University Press Learning Objects," the content includes 270 Learning Objects embedded into nine titles for high school, including Physical Science, Health, Lifetime Fitness, Psychology, Comprehensive Biology, Chemistry I, Chemistry II, Physics, and Earth & Space Science.
AEC has also released nine upgraded courseware titles. For grades K through 8, these include The Sciences I through VIII, each of which receives fresh content, a new look and feel, additional lessons, and alignment with National Science Education Standards. At the high school level, the company released a new course called Physical Science, which is also aligned with NSES.
AEC, whose courseware is currently used in more than 14,000 schools, colleges, and other education institutions, said it expects to roll out additional content within the next 60 days.
