El Paso ISD Adopts District-wide IP Video Surveillance

El Paso Independent School District in Texas said it's planning to deploy IP video surveillance across al of its high schools and middle schools. EPISD is the seventh-largest district in the state, with 92 total campuses.
LenSec, an IP video surveillance provider, is supplying the surveillance equipment to the district.
"We needed a comprehensive platform for crisis response that can help us stop an incident before it even occurs," said Victor Araiza, El Paso ISD police chief, in a statement released Monday. "With this new video surveillance system, EPISD police personnel can proactively monitor LenSec's highly intuitive map-based user interface for all secondary campuses in a matter of seconds. As a result, our officers as well as campus administrators will be able to quickly locate areas of concern and investigate those areas in the fastest and in the most efficient way as possible."
El Paso ISD serves about 63,000 students and employs about 9,000 staff. It's the 57th-largest district in the United States, with an annual budget of about $446 million.
