Pearson has released the latest version of its PowerTeacher online gradebook for K-12 educators.

PowerTeacher 1.5 offers several enhancements including integration with Pearson's student information system, Chancery SMS. Other features include the new PowerTeacher Administrator application, giving admin users the ability to distribute content links to faculty; "What If?" scenario tools, allowing teachers to run grading scenarios without changing actual grades; customizable grading scale capabilities, intended to provide greater flexibility; off-line usage, aimed at minimizing disruptions due to network failure; the ability to import and export scores; and a filtering mechanism that allows teachers to filter data based on user-defined groups.

"PowerTeacher 1.5 is an excellent example of how Pearson is leveraging cutting-edge technologies to raise the bar for classroom management tools. PowerTeacher 1.5 delivers a highly intuitive user experience that directly addresses unique teacher needs and seamlessly integrates with their existing Pearson SIS," said Paul Fletcher, senior vice president and general manager of the School Systems group of Pearson. "As the industry leader in the SIS market, we are continuing to set the industry standard for software applications that create a collaborative environment for parents, teachers and students to work together in preparing 21st century learners for the future."

According to Pearson, the PowerTeacher platform was designed with input from more than 1,000 K-12 teachers, and was originally released in June 2007. As of this writing, pricing for the new version was not available.
