The Texas Education Telecommunications Network (TETN) has recently selected Level 3 Communications as its primary provider of network services.

The multi-year agreement with Level 3 is aimed at providing cost-effective high-speed IP and collocation services to the state's education service centers and local school districts though high-volume pricing available to TETN.

"This is a landmark project in the state of Texas, and pooling the combined resources of the educational system enabled us to develop a highly robust network with economies of scale, which we couldn't have achieved alone," said Carol Willis, general manager of TETN, in a prepared statement. "We selected Level 3 because of its deep relationships and trusted reputation in the research and education community for quality and a consultative approach to providing reliable services and end-to-end scalability."

Through the agreement, local districts will have access scalable, high-speed services for a range of applications including video conferencing, Internet, and data transport, among others.
