Drill Down

A new digital curriculum model allows teachers to choose their own instructional materials (see "Free at Last"). The Speak Up 2008 survey gave students the power to handpick content for a new kind of online textbook.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Among high school students, animations and simulations are the most popular content choices.
  • Middle schoolers would most like to incorporate gaming into their schoolwork.
  • The use of videoconferencing received the least amount of support at the secondary school level.

If you could design your own online textbook, what features would you include? (Multiple answers allowed.)
