PBS Professional Support Site Adds Collaborative Tools

PBS TeacherLine, the professional support Web site operated by the Public Broadcasting Service, has announced upgrades to its collaborative community Peer Connection aimed at making the forum easier for educators to use and to collaborate with one another.

The primary goal of the site is to provide research-based, standards-aligned tools for educators to use while at the same time giving coaches, and mentors a forum to communicate their knowledge, ideas, and "best practices" developments in order to guide educators in their professional development.

Based upon research and user feedback, the TeacherLine upgrades include:

  • A more targeted search engine;
  • The ability for users to create networks and topical groups;
  • Customizable avatars;
  • Features to enable the sharing of resources with anyone using TeacherLine's Peer Connection; and
  • A more streamlined interface offering easier access to online tools.
