Netop Launches Classroom Management Software Beta

Netop is developing classroom management software for Mac OS X and Windows that enables teachers to monitor classroom computer activities and prevent students from performing non-course-related tasks on their assigned computers.

According to Netop, the classroom management tool, MyVision Basic, will display students' computer activities in a thumbnail view, lock out mouse and keyboards, blank student screens, and turn Internet access on and off. It also supports screen sharing.

Netop said it plans to release a free version of MyVision Basic, MyVision Free, which will have the monitoring features of MyVision Basic and come with a free trial of the paid version. Annual subscriptions of MyVision Basic for United States educators will be released in late 2009.

The beta version of MyVision Basic is available now as a free trial and can be downloaded here. Further information is available here.
