Califone Launches New Classroom Multimedia Player/Recorder

Califone International has launched a classroom boombox with a built-in USB port and SD card slot. The Spirit SD Multimedia Player/Recorder allows educators to play pre-recorded instructional resources, stories, and music for a group of students and lets students to record responses and projects with a built-in microphone.

"As an upgrade to our popular Spirit Multimedia Player/Recorder, the Spirit SD is ideal for both outdoor and indoor activities," said Tim Ridgway, vice president of marketing. "Educators have shared that they appreciate how flexible the unit is for use in classroom learning centers for independent study, with small groups and for whole class learning. The Spirit SD model also is an essential part of many [English language learning] classes."

Priced at $149, the unit includes a CD player, cassette recorder/player, and an AM/FM radio. It's available as a stand-alone multimedia player/recorder or as part of a four- or six-person learning center, which includes a foam-lined storage case, a stereo jackbox for group learning, and four or six stereo/mono headphones for individual use.
