Siemens Pushes Back Deadline for Sustainability Challenge

Siemens has announced a change in the submission deadline for students in grades K through 5 for its "We Can Change the World" Challenge, a nationwide competition, presented in partnership with Discovery Education, for elementary and middle school students and their teachers and mentors. The new deadline for submissions from K-5 teams is March 15, 2010, moved back from January 31. The deadline for grade 6-8 submissions remains March 15.

The competition awards $100,000 in prizes to teams of K-8 students who set about devising innovative ways to approach real-world environmental problems. "Using a project-based science inquiry approach, students are given the tools to identify, research, and recommend solutions to address an environmental issue in their classroom, then share their results with other classrooms across the country," according to the company.
