Study Island Adds STAAR Alignment
Ed tech developer Archipelago Learning has added support for Texas' STAAR tests to its flagship online instruction, assessment, and reporting tool--Study Island.
Study Island is a Web-based suite of educational tools, including instructional resources, practice tools, a testing engine, and data analysis, with content aligned to state standards and Common Core State Standards. It covers English, math, science, and social studies. And it offers a range of social and mobile tools, including support for iOS devices, online discussions, teacher forums, games, and e-portfolios.
The update adds new tools to help teachers prepare students for the STAAR tests, including new activities and lessons, practice tools, and assessments developed for STAAR.
"As a 100 percent digital solution, Study Island is extremely agile. This allows us to help schools and districts quickly, and easily transition to the STAAR tests, with instruction, practice and assessment tools that address the specific knowledge and skills students will be required to master," said Tim McEwen, president and CEO of Archipelago Learning, in a statement released Tuesday.
Study Island is in use by more than 23,000 schools in the United States, according to Archipelago. It's available now for both institutional and individual users. For institutions, pricing varies widely by student body population, subjects, and other factors. A complete pricing guide can be found online. For parents and students, pricing for individual users varies by subject and is typically about $59 per user, $29 for some non-core and GED subjects, $149 for SAT and ACT prep courses.
