Senkatel Rolls Out Atom-Based Android Tablet for Education

Senkatel has launched two new Android-based tablets for education, including one built around an Intel Atom processor.

The new T1011 is an Intel Atom Z2460-based tablet with a 10.1-inch, 1,280 x 800 pixel HD screen. It includes 1 GB RAM and 8 GB or 16 GB storage. Its processor runs at 1.6 GHz. Other features include:

  • A snap-on magnification lens and thermal probe;
  • 802.11b/g/n WiFi (2.5 GHz and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth;
  • Integrated GPS;
  • Front (0.3 megapixels) and rear (2 megapixels) cameras;
  • Mini HDMI;
  • Micro USB 2.0;
  • MicroSD storage; and
  • Android 4.0 OS.

The T1011 tablet includes the Intel Education Software package and Senkatel TPM, a security suite designed to protect hardware from theft.

The T9702 is a 9.7-inch tablet running on a dual-core 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 Rockchip RK3066 processor. It has a screen resolution of 1,024 x 768 and features support for 10 simultaneous touch points, according to information released by Senkatel. It comes equipped with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB flash storage.

Other features include:

  • An interface designed specifically for education with "convenient, real-time access to the teacher's study plans, course curriculum materials and reference literature";
  • Included reference and educational materials;
  • 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth;
  • Micro USB;
  • Mini HDMI;
  • Front (0.3 megapixels) and rear (2 megapixels) cameras; and
  • Android 4.1 OS.

Both tablets are available now. The T1011 runs $299; the T9702 costs $219. Additional details can be found on Senkatel's site.
