Texas District Integrates Business and Student Information Systems
Forney Independent School District (ISD) in Texas has upgraded its business information system (BIS) to integrate with its student information system (SIS).
The district had been using the TxEIS system for its business information, according to Lucas Janda, chief financial officer for Forney ISD. "While the system is one of the most popular in Texas, we found that the processing speeds and, more importantly, functional abilities of the system were better suited to districts with a much smaller enrollment," said Janda in a prepared statement.
The administration team at Forney ISD decided to switch from TxEIS to TEAMS from Prologic Technology Systems. The district had already been using the TEAMS SIS, TEAM Student Management, since 2009, so the switch to the TEAMS BIS with human resources and payroll will provide the district with an integrated solution.
"TEAMS runs off a single database with advanced integration among all business and student components, enabling departments to simultaneously communicate and share information without ever exiting a program," said Gary Axtman, COO of Prologic, in a prepared statement.
According to the company, the combination of the TEAMS BIS and SIS will enable the district's departments to view multiple-year budgets from a single program and complete rollovers in a matter of minutes rather than days. Janda said he thinks the new system will "give Forney the technical abilities to become much more efficient and meet, not only the current needs, but the future growth needs" of the district.
Forney Independent School District is located near Dallas, TX, and serves more than 8,500 students across 14 campuses.
