School Improvement Network Publishes New Interactive E-Books for Common Core

School Improvement Network has published two new interactive multimedia e-books about Common Core implementation on its LumiBook platform for educators.

The two new e-books are A Professional Learning Pathway to Common Core Success by Lisa Leith and Core Learning: Assessing What Matters Most by Jay McTighe.

A Professional Learning Pathway to Common Core Success is a guide to implementing the Common Core State Standards. According to information on the School Improvement Network's Web site, the e-book includes videos of "highly effective" math and English language arts teachers in all grades as they implement the Common Core in their own classrooms. The e-book is intended to help teachers understand how to shift their classroom teaching to the Common Core and help administrators understand how to build a framework for observing and evaluating Common Core teaching. The author, Lisa Leith, is the vice president of education research, policy, and accountability for School Improvement Network.

Core Learning: Assessing What Matters Most is a guide to writing assessments aligned to Common Core State Standards or any other standards-based education system. According to information from the School Improvement Network, the e-book includes sample performance tasks and rubrics, methods for designing standards-aligned assessments, interviews with teachers planning and using the assessments, tools and templates for download, and videos of teachers using formative assessment strategies. The author, Jay McTighe, served as director of the Maryland Assessment Consortium.

Both books are available on the LumiBooks platform. LumiBooks offers text-based e-books that are enhanced with audio and video clips, surveys, slideshows, images, notes, Web links, and other tools. Readers can discuss the book with others directly through the e-reader and interact with the author.

The new e-books are available for $59.95 each on the School Improvement Network site. Further information can be found at schoolimprovement.com.
