Mass. District Centralizes Printing at Single Location
In an effort to help streamline print jobs across its campuses, Whitman Hanson (MA) Regional School District has created a central print facility that delivers materials to schools twice a day.
The centralized printing command center, called the SmartCentre, accepts jobs from almost any computer or device in the district via a web-based system. Users can submit complex jobs to the printer and proof documents on screen before sending. Typically, users get their jobs within four hours.
By centralizing print jobs, the district had hoped to cut both costs and machine downtime. The SmartCentre features two Konica Minolta monochrome production print systems, which manage the printing for the seven schools in the district. Twelve color and monchrome printers still remain on-site for smaller print jobs.
"Collegiate Press proposed a solution with Konica Minolta technologies that not only improved our workflow, but essentially created an entire culture change across all our schools with regard to technology," said Craig Finley, the district’s assistant superintendent, in a statement.
