Code School Unveils Free App for iOS

Code School, a company that provides learning resources for aspiring coders, has released a free app for iOS devices.

Code School offers an online learning platform that combines video, coding in a browser and gamification. The company offers badges for the successful completion of courses and paths in Ruby, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, iOS, Git and electives.

Features of the new app include:

  • More than 300 videos on JavaScript, iOS, Git, Ruby and developer tools such as Chrome Dev Tools;
  • Free content with the ability to unlock the rest with a Code School subscription;
  • The ability to download videos for offline viewing; and
  • New content deliverd to the app at the same time it debuts on the Code School site.

"The release comes just as the company has nearly doubled its member-base over the past year to more than 1 million developers," according to a news release. "In recent months the company has also expanded beyond just courses, launching screencast series such as 'Soup to Bits' and 'Feature Focus' that focus on putting the process of creating new applications and features into practice."
