Edmentum Adds Computing to EducationCity

Edmentum has added the subject of computing to its EducationCity preK-6 learning program.

EducationCity's computing subject focuses on digital literacy, computer science, with an introduction to programming with Edmentum's Code Crunch, and information technology, which explores "the use of technology to create solutions and complete tasks such as basic email information, Internet searching, and identifying reliable Web sites," according to a news release.

"Technology plays a huge part in our lives, and now, more than ever, it's important to teach students how to use it and how it works at an early age," said Paul Johansen, chief technology officer at Edmentum, in a prepared statement. "There's projected to be 4.2 million computer science and mathematics jobs in 2020 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and our new subject focused on computing helps students develop essential computing skills for now and later in life."
