Shmoop Unveils 20 New Essay Labs

Digital publisher Shmoop has launched 20 new essay labs designed to help walk high school students through the writing process.

With help on brainstorming, thesis formulation, draft writing and revision, along with intermediary steps, the labs feature "tips, tricks and examples specific to whichever essay type they've chosen: analysis, argumentative, compare and contrast, definition, descriptive, expository, informative/explanatory, literature, persuasive, reaction or review/critical," according to a news release. "For students who are still working on the building blocks, Shmoop provides a separate Thesis Statement Builder and Paragraph Builder to let them practice each piece of the puzzle before diving in to the whole thing."

The new labs include an SAT Essay Lab, ACT Writing Lab, a College Application Essay Lab, a Cover Letter Lab and a Scholarship Application Essay Lab, as well as a Lab Report Builder and a mathematical Proof Builder for students in STEM courses.

"As colleges and jobs become increasingly competitive, stellar writing chops will be a must have," said David Siminoff, Shmoop founder, in a news release. "Shmoop helps students hone those skills that will last them a lifetime."
