At the FETC 2010 conference, underway this week in Orlando, FL, assessment software provider GradeCam released an online version of its test scanning tool, GradeCam Online. The software allows Webcams and other types of cameras to be used to scan multiple choice tests and collect data to be used to aid instruction.
Achiever!, the online educational assessment and instruction tool from Brainchild, is now available in Spanish as well as English, the company announced at FETC 2010, being held this week in Orlando, FL.

No Child Left Behind's accountability measures had no impact on children's reading achievement but did lead to some gains in math achievement by some measures, according to new research out of the University of Michigan's Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and Swarthmore College.
The Catholic School of Office (CSO) of the Boston Archdiocese has announced it will introduce two comprehensive assessments into the schools under its auspices, the Stanford Achievement Test, 10th Edition (Stanford 10) and Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, Eighth Edition (OLSAT 8), both published by Pearson Assessment and Information. All students in grades 2 through 8 will required to take both tests annually at their respective grade levels.

More than 1.2 million students drop out of high school each year, according to reports from the National Center for Education Statistics. For an economic superpower with a renewed commitment to education reform, this is a sobering figure. In an effort to help schools combat the decision by at-risk students simply to "give up" and drop out, Pearson has launched Prevent, a data-driven software system designed to give early-warning alerts to educators and administrators that a student is in danger of falling through the cracks and allow them to intervene in the areas necessary.
