Microsoft Launches ‘Web Watchers’ Initiative With High-Tech Partners

WebWatchersOnline.com photo Microsoft Corp., along with AMD and a host of other companies committed to computer security, has launched the Web Watchers program (WebWatchersOnline.com), an Internet security and safety initiative directed at students in grades 3-8. Web Watchers provides educators with age- and curriculum-appropriate lessons that will help students understand the opportunities and risks of the Internet, including how to avoid installation of malicious software and how to protect their online identity. The site also features a Teachers’ Corner that offers downloadable materials and lessons — not all requiring computer access — covering topics such as e-mail safety, cybercitizenship, privacy and netiquette. Other companies involved with the initiative include McAfee, NetZero and The CyberSmart! Education Co.
