Lightspan, Inc., a curriculum software, Internet products and services company, has announced a new version of The Lightspan Network, the company's subscription-based service that offers standards-based online curriculum and resources for K-8 classrooms. The new version of the service features enhancements designed to benefit the entire school community, including teachers, students and parents by integrating assessment, K-8 standards-based content and instructional tools into a commercial-free Internet solution.

The enhanced features de-signed to aid in student achievement include interactive learn-ing activities tied to state standards and school curriculum; an automated Lesson Plan Builder correlated to individual state standards; and a secure messaging center that allows teachers to communicate with students and families. In addition, the new version can be customized for each teacher, student and parent who uses the network, making it an efficient, relevant educational resource.
