Schoolwires Service Enhanced with Homework Management

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Schoolwires has released an upgrade of Schoolwires Centricity, which adds homework management functionality to its Web-based community communications platform for schools and districts. Schoolwires Centricity provides tools to more easily deploy and manage multiple custom, interactive Web sites and implement advanced Web 2.0/multimedia capabilities, such as blogs, podcasts, and photo galleries.

The service includes utilities for page design, content authoring, home page management, editorial control and workflow, user and role management, and broadcast e-mail and content subscription management.

The new enhancements let teachers establish an assignments page that allows students to keep track of upcoming assignments. For districts that have Schoolwires Synergy, teachers can establish homework drop boxes on the assignments page and access the submitted homework through safe and secure digital file sharing.

"Teachers told us they like to organize assignments by category, assign due dates and display them on calendars," said Jason Coudriet, VP of product development. "As a plus, we added Real Simple Syndication (RSS), so the assignments can be aggregated to iGoogle or Yahoo."

Users include Whittier Union High School District, Quakertown Community School District, and Cornell School District.
