Marshal8e6 Expands Security Options for K-12 Web-based Communications

Marshall8e6 has recently announced an expanded suite of Internet security solutions aimed at helping K-12 schools and districts secure all forms of Web-based communications. According to the company, the new offerings will include solutions for e-mail, Web, instant messaging, and peer-to-peer platforms and will be compatible with a range of operating systems and devices.

Intended to help district IT staff protect their networks and comply with local, state, and federal regulations, the expanded product line is a result of the recent merger of Marshal and 8e6 Technologies. Solutions offered by the newly formed company include Gateway and Exchange e-mail security, Internet and bandwidth monitoring, forensic reporting and filtering, malware and data leakage prevention, remote filtering for laptops, and endpoint security, among others.

"As a combined organization, Marshal8e6 looks forward to building on the trusted and proven records of both Marshal and 8e6 Technologies in the K-12 community with our full set of Internet security tools," said Luis Curet, vice president of sales for the Americas at Marshal8e6, in a prepared statement. "While the Internet offers students an unprecedented resource for learning, we understand that one of the primary responsibilities of educators and administrators is to keep children safe. By utilizing Marshal8e6's Web, email and instant message filtering technologies, schools can ensure that students are safe from inappropriate content while surfing the Web and that their networks remain secure."
