Drill Down
In "Safe at Home." we look at the ways schools protect laptops distributed
to students as part of a 1-to-1 computing program. Below, administrators report on the
obstacles they encounter in the effort to provide students with take-home technologies.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Three of the top four most often cited barriers to issuing take-home devices reflect cost concerns.
- Affordability of the device was named by more than half of the respondents as an obstacle.
- Curricular-based issues (class management, coordinating schoolwork) rate as less of a concern.
What are the top three barriers you face when providing tech-based learning
opportunities for students beyond the classroom?
