Casio Demos 'Green Slim' Projectors
Casio has introduced a line of small, portable projectors called Green Slim, which the company said are the world’s first mercury-free bright projectors.
Casio said they developed a replacement for the high-pressure mercury lamps required for bright projection. The Green Slim line uses a laser and LED hybrid light source which, until now, produced relatively low-brightness projectors. Casio said it solved this problem by combining a laser, a fluorescent element, and an LED. The high light output (2,000 or more lumens) was attained by projecting blue laser light, green light converted from blue laser light with the fluorescent element, and light emitted by a red LED through a DLP chip onto the screen.
There are nine models in the new lineup. Some are WXGA (1,280 x 800) resolution, and some are XGA (1,024 x 768). They deliver brightness of 2,000, 2,500, or 3,000 lumens.
Other features include:
- Approximately 20,000 hours of lamp life;
- Quick power on and off;
- Wide-angle 2x optical zoom;
- 802.11b/g wireless connectivity; and
- USB 2.0 connectivity.
The new models measure 1.7” x 8.5” x 11” and weigh in at 5 pounds. Further information can be found here.
