Adobe Announces New Cloud Service for Content Creators

Adobe has announced details of its forthcoming cloud service for content creators and tablet users, Creative Cloud, at its Max 2011 conference in Los Angeles. Creative Cloud is described as a hub for viewing, sharing, and syncing files created by the Adobe Creative Suite and a group of newly announced touch-based apps for tablets.

While full details won't be released until November, Creative Cloud will feature 20GB of cloud storage and give users access to both the Adobe Creative Suite and the six new touch apps, designed for content creation on tablets and slated for release later this year. Creative Cloud users can use the service to share created content on tablets, view that content on other devices, or import it into the Creative Suite itself.

By early 2012, Adobe Creative Cloud is expected to include the following:

• Applications: The offering will include Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and new tools such as Adobe Edge and Muse.
• Services: Creative Cloud will make certain services available via cloud technology. These include: Digital Publishing Suite technologies for delivering interactive publications on tablets; Business Catalyst for building and managing websites; and new design services, such as cloud-based fonts for website design.
  
• Community: Adobe is also planning new capabilities that encourage content sharing with other users and will launch a forum for feedback and creative discussion.

The new touch apps, designed for both Android tablets and the iPad, will address multiple areas of the creative process, including: image editing; ideation; sketching; mood boards; website and mobile app prototyping; and presenting finished work.
