3 Organizations Join Forces to Recruit and Connect Education Leaders
The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems, Education Pioneers, and the Strategic Data Project have banded together to create Activate ED, a collaboration intended to connect leaders, managers, and analysts with school systems.
Formed in April 2012 and funded through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Activate ED aims to recruit 1,500 new leaders through numerous fellowships and residencies before April 2014. Skilled professionals can visit the Activate ED Web site to apply for potential job opportunities, and fellowship alumni can use the site to share best practices. According to Activate ED, the site currently features "nearly 400 high-profile career opportunities, including executive positions in education nonprofits, school districts, charter management organizations, and positions with state agencies and the United States Department of Education."
"Through Activate ED, we believe that we will collectively identify more talented leaders, help provide them with the right career opportunities, and give them the training and support to have a transformative impact on the broader public school system and student achievement, said Scott Morgan, founder and CEO of Education Pioneers, in a prepared statement.
Activate ED will also connect the alumni networks of each of the three organizations, which includes organizational leaders, elected officials, and education reform advocates.
Each of the three partner organizations will manage a separate aspect of Activate ED. The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems will create the Activate ED Exchange, a forum for the Activate ED alumni network to share best practices. Education Pioneers is helping all Activate ED partners recruit strong candidates. And the Strategic Data Project will develop and share analytical tools designed to help leaders drive school improvements.
