DeSoto ISD Upgrades to Integrated District Management ERP System

The DeSoto Independent School District in north Texas has announced board approval to upgrade its current management technology to a centralized enterprise resource planning (ERP) and  student information system (SIS) that integrates administrative and student data district-wide.

For the project, the district chose Prologic Technology Systems' Total Education Administrative Management Solution (TEAMS) ERP and SIS to link the district's financial, human resource, and student data into a single, centralized database.

The Web-based system provides a streamlined approach to data management, simplifying collaboration between teachers, students, administrators, and parents. Real-time data integration allows authorized users immediate access to student information, such as attendance records, assignments, and grades.

To help districts keep track of employment vacancies, TEAMS includes a position control system that tracks positions for all jobs within the district.

Key system functions include:

  • A global data management tool that can analyze and manage a district-wide budget, including Inventories, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll;
  • A human resource module that includes managing everything from job announcements to employee benefits and work schedules; and
  • A SIS student management module with enrollment, grading, transcript and demographics reporting features and a schedule builder.

"The decision to go with TEAMS ERP & SIS really came down to three things…a single relational database linking business and student data, the comfort level we have working with Prologic's people, and the price," said DeSoto ISD CFO Bobby LaBorde, in a prepared statement. "Their student information system also weighed heavily in our decision. TEAMS gives us enhanced student reporting capabilities, more failsafe triggers and the added bonus of a system that is already integrated with the state's dashboard."

DeSoto Independent School District is a suburban district outside of Dallas that serves the communities of DeSoto, Glenn Heights, and Ovilla. About 9,000 students are enrolled in the district's seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools. DeSoto ISD's operating budget for 2012-2013 is estimated at $61.5 million.
