Snap Learning, Emantras Partnership Takes Literacy Mobile

Educational publisher Snap Learning and technology firm Emantras have partnered to make literacy curriculum aligned with Common Core standards available on any computer or mobile device.

Snap Learning provides 150 titles and scripted lesson plans for teachers, appropriate for all students in grades K-6 and students in grades 7-8 who are struggling. They focus on phonetic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension using content from history, science, and language arts.

This collaboration allows Snap Learning users access to books, word books, lesson plans, assessments, and interactive activities using Emantras' mobile app Mobl21. Other features include text and audio in English and Spanish, animations, videos, and slide shows. The app, which is compatible with iPads and Android tablets, also lets teachers monitor student progress.

In addition, all learning products are available for interactive whiteboards, as well as in PDF format.

Printable PDFs are available for 128 lesson plans, 78 kindergarten and first-grade student books, 50 second- to sixth-grade student books, an alphabet book, two word books, assessment material, and individual student record books.

Seventy-eight e-books are available for kindergarten and first-grade, and 50 e-books for second to sixth grades. They include more than 1,000 audio files, 2,500 slide shows, 240 glossary terms, upwards of 100 videos, more than 100 fun facts, 75 interactive maps, and about 50 animations.

"Today's learners love engaging with new technologies," said Emantras CEO Sesh Kumar, in a prepared statement, "and by offering these products as e-books with a host of cool interactive features, we find students quickly overcome their initial reticence and become excited to explore the material and measure their own reading progress."

All of Snap Learning's literacy products cost $89 per teacher annually.
