GameDesk Launches Teaching Resource Site

K-12 educators have a new resource for free lesson plans and interactive learning tools.

GameDesk, a Los Angeles, CA-based education nonprofit organization, has launched Educade, a new education portal offering free teaching resources and interactive learning tools for K-12 school teachers. Funding for Educade came from telecommunications provider AT&T.

"We are very excited to share our work and community movement through Educade," said GameDesk CEO Lucien Vattel, in a company statement. "There is a new world of educational ideas and tools expressed within this site from thought leaders and educators all over. I hope folks will come explore, create, and join us in the future of learning."

Educade's free lesson plans include apps, games, and hands-on activities designed to engage young learners. All lesson plans align with core curriculum standards, including Common Core and Next Generation, for English, math, and science. Users can search for resources by grade, subject, technology level, and device type. Teachers and other education professionals can create and add new original content to the portal. Educade also offers a community where users can host discussions.

AT&T Aspire, AT&T's education foundation, is sponsoring Educade. "Educade is a catalyst for radical change in the way we approach education," said Beth Shiroishi, vice president of sustainability and philanthropy at AT&T. "We want to help more students graduate high school ready for college and careers, and the Educade portal will support that goal by bringing together high quality entertainment with high quality education in a way that reaches students and has measurable impact on performance."
